We built a webcam motion capture for our Multimedia pioneering. I downloaded the Ostrich Flash file and used it as reference to create my video motion capture interface.
This technology uses either a computer's built-in webcam or an external webcam to detect any motion within the camera's view in reproducing motion. This is primarily done using Flash Action Script, with the webcam automatically turning on while using this interface.

I incorporated this technology together with a scenery featuring birds across a sunset . When some motion is detected at the location of where the birds are, those birds fly away to a different location on the screen. This movement would persist, as long as there is motion detection going on.
While creating this, I went through many difficult circumstances. I initially wanted to make each bird fly away in their own direction, due to the interface's motion detection ability. However, due to my novice level of understanding with Action Script 3 and coding (specifically for motion capture), I had to make the birds move away together.
Creating this interface was also fun, as I was able to perform some silly hand gestures in moving the birds around; as a result I was ridiculed by all my friends. This is great technology that could reach many audiences in a variety of ways. There are two articles that I found relating to gesture technology. Overall, this was a great opportunity to learn about and create a video motion capture technology. Certainly, I am slowly gaining the concepts in being able to implement the theoretical component to create different creative projects and hopefully pave way for more interesting things to come.
